This page contains all the information you need to have a successful stay in halls, from moving in, the facilities available and keeping safe.

  • Moving In

    Getting here

Details about the arrivals process will be made available on our online welcome platform over the summer months. Instructions about how to access this will be emailed out to all residents once all accommodation details have been finalised.

    Keys

On arrival, you will receive an access card for your room. If you lose this, you will need to report it to the accommodation reception where a replacement key will be issued.

Please note, there will be a charge incurred to replace any lost or damaged keys and access cards.

For further information on key replacement charges, please view our refurb charges

    Accommodation reception

The Student Living reception is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    Fire evacuation

In the event of a fire alarm being raised you should evacuate promptly to the bridge in front of the building to the right.

Failure to evacuate your accommodation building when instructed may result in disciplinary action being taken against you.

If widespread evacuation is necessary, you will be instructed to move out of the accommodation courtyard.

If you hear the fire alarm sound in another flat, please inform security immediately. You are safe to remain in your own flat but may evacuate if you wish.

    Communal facilities

In Archway you have access to an array of wonderful facilities, including a gym, games room, bookable TV room and a secure bike store.

To use the gym, you will need to sign a disclaimer from reception prior to using it for the first time.

You will also need to book the TV room from reception if you wish to use it.

    Internet

Glide Gigabit service is superfast and is included in the hall’s fees.

It’s possible to connect up to 25 devices with Glide’s free Home Network service, which allows your devices to connect to each other, while remaining private from your neighbours.

Glide provides both wired and wireless internet access in your room. The Glide Gigabit service will deliver speeds of:

    Maintenance repairs

Please report any maintenance issues to [email protected]. In an emergency, such as loss of all water or power, floods, gas leaks or persons trapped in lifts please go directly to the accommodation reception or telephone0161 247 2777.

    Flat inspections

You are responsible for keeping the communal areas of your flat and your bedroom clean and tidy.

All areas of your house/flat (including your bedroom) will be inspected once per term and the dates will be emailed to you. The inspection is to check for cleanliness, health and safety and damages. If an area of your home fails its inspection due to cleanliness, you will be given 48 hours to clean the area, after which a second inspection will be carried out. If your flat fails the second inspection, then a cleaning contractor will be brought in and the cost of this will be passed on to you and your flatmates.

    Cleaning equipment

There are shared living and kitchen facilities in Archway accommodation. Each apartment is provided with a vacuum cleaner, dustpan and brush, mop and bucket, two recycling bins and two general waste bins. Bin bags are complimentary and are available to be collected from reception.

    Waste recycling

You need to dispose of all rubbish from your flat at the bin store located in the courtyard area.
