Changes to your Library for 2023
Throughout Semester one, we have been listening to your feedback on how we can improve the study spaces in your Library. We are now happy to share what changes we have been making over the winter break.
From new collaborative study areas to additional specialist software, here’s what you can expect to see in your Library for 2023:
The fifth floor
From January 2023, the Fifth Floor will become a quiet only study zone. This provides a much bigger space for you to study without noise, so you can concentrate while studying independently.
This also addresses your feedback on needing a quieter study space with access to computers. This includes the PCs with the specialist science and engineering software installed on them.
To support students who want to use this software for collaborative study, we have installed it on an additional eight PCs in the First Floor IT zone.
New collaborative study spaces
We have created new collaborative study zones on the ground floor. They are based in the North and West wings. These spaces complement the existing collaborative study area on the first floor East Wing.
These spaces are for you to study with other students on your course. They are also available for you to work virtually with your tutors or course mates via Teams.
Don’t forget about social spaces in The Union
The Library Lounge will continue to be a social space for you. But there are also other spaces you can hang out with your friends.
The Union has plenty of areas to grab a coffee with your mates, chill after a lecture or grab a bite to eat. There’s also The Study, a space that has USB ports and desktop computers for you to do your uni work.
You can also book a space for quiet study, meetings or somewhere to get together using The Union room booking request form.
