An introduction to Future me plan

Future me is your personalised student development journey.  Designed for everyone but tailored by you, it helps you build the skills, confidence and experience you need to succeed within and beyond university.

It’s your opportunity to customise your student experience and explore the person you hope to become.

Future me plan

Future me starts with your Future me plan, a personal development plan that is unique to you. It forms the cornerstone of your progress, and helps you realise your potential by enabling you to embrace new challenges and growing your experience and skills.

By repeating a four-stage cycle, you’ll:

  • map out your goals
  • experience new opportunities
  • reflect on your progress
  • share your journey with others
Future me plan wheel. Share, Map, Experience, Reflect.

Future me week

Every year Manchester Met students get to enjoy five days of events, workshops, insights and talks from inspiring speakers. There are also industry panel sessions where graduate employers highlight transferable skills across a range of career paths.

Previous speakers have included Team GB’s Dame Sarah Storey as a Visiting Professor, FootAsylum, L’Oreal, Aldermere Bank, The HUT Group, and Hays Recruitment.

Taking place at the start of the second semester, Future me week is the perfect opportunity to put your Future me plan into action. It helps you plan your short and long-term goals, expand your skillset, and get inspired about your future.

Join us on Monday 20 - Friday 24 January 2025 for Future me week. The full schedule of events is coming soon.

Rise

Rise

Rise is your portal to a huge range of short courses, projects and collaborations that sit perfectly alongside your core studies. It’s a way to boost your employability and potentially earn extra credits towards your degree.

You could be on a nursing degree and want to try learning Mandarin Chinese. Or you may be an architecture student with a passion for sports and social media. Whatever it is, Rise encourages you to step out of your discipline and try something new.

You can obtain points for taking part in Rise activities, and work towards badges that can be shared on your LinkedIn to show your skills to potential employers.

And you don’t have to be a student yet to get started, either.
