Biography
My interest in history was developed when, as a mature student I read history at MMU. I undertook a PhD in twentieth century British history which focused on the development of the women’s movement in the interwar period. I enjoy walking my dog, gardening, going to the gym and playing drums in a local band.

Teaching
Why do I teach?
I really enjoy teaching, history is such a dynamic discipline it affords us the opportunity to assess the past with the present in mind, it is about human behaviour and interaction. A good degree can provide many career opportunities and through my teaching I seek to inspire students to achieve the best they can from their university experience.
How I’ll teach you
Lots of energy and enthusiasim are the key in my classes, I encourage all to have a view within a respectful and engaging environment.
Why study…
Generally, I am interested in most aspects of twentieth century British society, culture and politics, these include, but are not limited to: women’s movements, youth culture, the miner’s strike, and Thatcher.

Research outputs
My research interests are in nineteenth and twentieth century British History, particularly focusing on the development and effectiveness of non-party political women’s organisations. I am also interested in the women’s movement in interwar Britain and the development of women’s activism in party political and non-party political organisations.
