Generating routes for women's leadership (GROWL)
Helping businesses embed practices to develop and retain women for leadership roles.
About
About GROWL
We work with organisations to explore the problems that obstruct women’s leadership and find ways to generate effective routes for female progression.
Using easily translatable research and our enquiry toolkit, we encourage organisations to deepen their understanding of their workplace challenges.
GROWL is run by the Sylvia Pankhurst Gender and Diversity Research Centre.

Our enquiry tools summarise the research evidence and ask questions around six phases of leadership where women face challenges to progression.
- Developing girls’ and young women’s leadership identities
- Investing in leadership training that supports women
- Mentoring and sponsoring to generate routes for women’s leadership
- Synchronising women’s leadership career pathways and family lives
- Returning and recharging: creating non-linear leadership pathways for women
- Valuing mid-life women leaders
Research and consultancy
Our enquiry process can dig deeper to explore specific challenges faced by organisations.
