About our research
Our mission is to ensure that policies, programmes and projects are based on robust evidence so they can make a positive and lasting impact on people’s lives.
We help tackle some of the most challenging issues facing society, including in criminal justice, education, wellbeing, poverty, housing, homelessness and social investment.
Our expert team of evaluators, economists, sociologists and criminologists support policymaking from development to implementation and results sharing and evaluation.
We use innovative research methods and work alongside policymakers, services and the people who use them. This ensures that any interventions get to the heart of an issue and have the best chance of success.
Our researchers are renowned for cutting edge statistical and data science techniques. We’re expert in impact evaluation, longitudinal data, economic modelling and the management and analysis of big data.
We’ve been commissioned by UK government departments, local government, the voluntary sector and the European Commission.
Our staff run two taught masters programmes:
We also supervise PhD students with an interest in methodological innovation in research and evaluation.
