Research: Growing up in digital Europe
Revolutionising our understanding of child wellbeing through Europe’s first and largest longitudinal survey.
Summary
Research summary
- January 2015 – January 2053
Growing Up in Digital Europe (GUIDE) will be one of the largest surveys in Europe to track the wellbeing of children as they grow up.
GUIDE will offer unique insights into children’s lives for decades to come, helping policymakers develop more effective education, health and social policies.
The longitudinal birth cohort survey will provide data on representative samples of children from most European countries, tracking them up to 24-years-old.
It will focus on major wellbeing themes such as inequality, learning, digital life and lifestyle.
GUIDE will be one of the largest social science research tool in Europe. It is also strategically important, recognised alongside high-profile projects such as the European Social Survey and the Survey of Health Ageing and Retirement in Europe.
Researchers from Manchester Met’s Policy Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) are leading GUIDE’s development alongside colleagues at University College Dublin.
GUIDE is supported by a project to improve research into children and young people across Europe, COORDINATE.
