Student wins place at prestigious Milan event
A Manchester Metropolitan student is attending a world summit in Milan today after winning a competition focusing on the future of the events industry.
Final-year events management student Claire Pisira won the trip to the Women in Exhibitions World Summit in Milan after a competition collaboration between Manchester Central, Informa Markets and Manchester Metropolitan University.
Students submitted five-minute videos sharing their vision for the future of events, with Claire’s video, “I am the future!”, winning the top spot after the judges were impressed by its originality and energy.
At the conference, Claire will have the chance to join a panel discussion on the evolving landscape of event management, in addition to networking opportunities over the course of the two-day summit.
Lori Hoinkes, CEO of Manchester Central and founding member of Women in Exhibitions UK Chapter, said the panel was impressed by Claire’s personality-driven submission.
Hoinkes said: “She made our decision easy because we knew straight away that she was the right person to represent the future of events in Milan.”
Lesley Fair, Lecturer in Events Management at Manchester Metropolitan University, congratulated Claire on her success.
She said: “We couldn’t be prouder of Claire, She embodies the passion and dedication that will shape the future of events, and we’re excited to see her make her mark on an international stage.”
Claire said she was looking forward to the summit.
