Celebrating our best ever NSS results
By Professor Andy Dainty, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education at Manchester Metropolitan University.
Everyone at Manchester Met works tirelessly to ensure our students enjoy every minute of their time with us and are well-prepared to get off to a flying start in their chosen career.
While we encourage them to give feedback throughout their studies, metrics for the National Student Survey (NSS), where final year students share their views on the quality of their degree programme, are particularly important for all of us, especially as they allow us to benchmark our provision against every other higher education institution.
In the year we launched our new Education Strategy, it’s fantastic to celebrate our best-ever NSS performance, entering the top 30 in the Times Higher Education league table for the first time.
According to almost 6,000 students in our Class of 2023, we performed ahead of the higher education sector for our Academic Support, Organisation and Management, Learning Resources and Learning Opportunities.
We were especially delighted to score highly for Assessment and Feedback and Student Voice - not only do we listen and act on their feedback, but our students recognise this.
Our 2023 NSS results follow great news on our graduate outcomes, which also go from strength to strength.
Our new Education Strategy and recently launched Student Futures Manifesto set out a progressive agenda for the development of our curriculum, digital education, staff development, graduate futures and student experience which I am confident will see us build on all this success.
It’s a great privilege to work for a university that puts education and research on an equal footing, staying true to a long-standing mission of delivering excellent education to transform students’ lives and excellent research which makes real world impacts.
We are also working to ensure that our pioneering research in areas from sport to cardiovascular science, to sustainable fuels and fashion, feeds into exciting, cutting-edge teaching practice.
We have co-created our strategy with colleagues and students, and our NSS results show that we are on the right track.
Thank you to our Class of 2023 for sharing their honest feedback.
