You can now add coloured coded tags to references in EndNote Desktop. These are customisable labels to help organise your references.
Seven different colours are available. Once assigned to a record, tags are visible in the central panel.
Multiple tags can be added to records.
To create a tag
- Go to the Tags menu and select Create Tag or click on the plus symbol next to My Tags in the left-hand pane.
- Create a name for your tag and select a colour, then choose Create tag.
- The tags automatically appear under My Tags in the left-hand pane.
To assign tags to a reference
You can do this in several ways. Either:
- Select the reference/s you wish to tag. You can use the Ctrl key to select more than one. Then drag the records to the appropriate tag in the left-hand pane.
- Select a record, right click, and choose Manage Tags. Select the relevant tag/s and click OK.
- Select a record and in the right-hand pane, choose Edit and then Manage tags. Select the relevant tag/s and click OK.
Removing tags
There are several ways to remove a tag. Either:
- Select a reference and right click, then choose manage Tags. To remove one tag click the cross next to the tag and then click OK and this will remove the tag from this record. If you want to remove multiple tags choose Clear tags and click OK. This will remove all tags from a specific record.
- Select a record and in the right-hand pane and your tags will be displayed, click the cross next to relevant tags to remove them.
