About Jobs4Students

Jobs4Students provides Manchester Met students with job opportunities across the University. We offer short and longer-term roles in a wide range of areas, including:

  • creative positions

  • research assistants

  • sport roles

  • event ambassadors

  • peer mentors

  • student ambassadors

  • IT support

  • schools outreach, and many more

Who is eligible

Jobs4Students vacancies are for current students who are over 18. You can start work as soon as you have:

  • attended a right-to-work appointment

  • received an assignment confirmation email from Jobs4Students

Associate students are not eligible. Human resources will handle your work contract if you don’t meet these criteria, or if you’re enrolled at another institution.

When you can work

Undergraduate

  • 16 hours a week during term time (no restrictions outside of term dates)

  • You can work until 31 August in the year you finish your course

Postgraduate taught

  • 16 hours a week during term time and over summer (no restrictions during Christmas and Easter)

  • You can work until your course finishes (the official date on the student records system)

Postgraduate research

  • 16 hours throughout the year

These hours are in line with Manchester Met’s policy for working during term time, which aims to:

  • help more students benefit from opportunities

  • ensure fair access to jobs

  • remove conflicts between work and study commitments

There are no restrictions for part-time students. If you have visa restrictions, it is your responsibility to make sure you are working within the requirements of your visa.
