Course overview

In this programme, you will gain a broad business, management and finance background and the analytical, technical and interpersonal skills needed to understand and address the issues facing today’s companies. 

It also covers the advanced business and management concepts you will need to move from undergraduate topics to the more complex theories covered during a masters degree. 

The pathway will also enhance your skills in research, critical thinking and English language, which are needed to successfully study as a postgraduate.

Modules

Semester one

Advanced Concepts in Business, Management and Finance 

Credit value: 15 

In this module you will consider the different aspects of business and management theory, which will provide you with a solid grounding for the more advanced content and comprehension required in postgraduate study. In particular, the module will cover key business and management areas including strategy, finance, marketing, human resource management and organisational culture.      

Research and Critical Thinking Skills 

Credit value: 30

This module has been designed to prepare you for postgraduate research by providing essential underpinning knowledge and skills in research methods, critical thinking and expression. You will learn about the tools to conduct research using either qualitative or quantitative methodologies frequently applied in postgraduate study. It will also enhance comprehension and interpretation of the mechanics of argumentation. You will learn how to effectively evaluate the rationale of argument and evidence to support claims and how to assess the credibility of sources used in claims.    

Postgraduate Interactive Learning Skills and Communication 

Credit value: 15 

This module is designed to provide you with essential academic English and communication skills necessary for successful personal and professional practice in a globalised world. You will engage with key concepts related to diversity, equity and inclusion; sustainability; employability; and digital fluency to enhance your reading, writing, speaking, listening and ICT skills. You will develop an awareness of institutional culture, practices and expectations of higher education to be fully prepared for the academic rigour of your postgraduate degree.
