The International Year One in Humanities and Social Sciences at Manchester Metropolitan University is designed to help you start your degree with confidence. How it works
As an International Year One student, you will apply through the International College. Once accepted, you will start your first year of university just like any other student on your chosen degree. You will attend the same lectures, seminars, and tutorials as your course peers, studying the same subjects. But to make sure you have the best chance of success, you will also get extra academic and language support from the college.
Interactive Learning and Study Skills Course
Alongside your regular degree modules, you will take an additional module called the Interactive Learning and Study Skills course. This module is designed to provide you with essential academic English and communication skills necessary for successful personal and professional practice in a globalised world. You will engage with key concepts related to diversity, equity and inclusion; sustainability; employability; and digital fluency to enhance your reading, writing, speaking, listening and information technology skills. You will develop an awareness of institutional culture, practices and expectations of higher education to be fully equipped for the academic rigour of your ongoing degree studies
