About my career
I decided to study at Manchester Met due to a collaboration with my university in Córdoba, Argentina, which offered me the opportunity to obtain a double degree. I chose the UK to experience different cultures, including the English culture and those of other countries, as Manchester attracts students from all around the world. Additionally, I wanted to improve my language skills.
My first job after graduating was in the financial industry as a young professional in a Citigroup company. I obtained this job after a lengthy assessment process where they were seeking young professionals with some work experience. I was chosen precisely because of the experience I had at Manchester Met.
I experienced a continuous learning process as I progressed in my corporate career, occupying managerial positions and leading teams and brands. In the meantime, I completed various courses and trainings, both in-company and on my own. I pursued a Master’s in Business at the Universidad Austral in Argentina and later specialised in the field of Sports Business and Marketing at ESADE Business School in Barcelona. I am always attentive to opportunities to keep learning about trends in sports business.
In 2017, after 14 years of corporate experience in sales and marketing (Citi, Molinos, Coca-Cola), I founded my own sports marketing agency called Inside Sports Marketing where we collaborate with the commercial development of athletes and brands interested in supporting sports. Our main responsibility is to scout and design a strategic plan for each athlete to enhance their marketing assets (social media, content, press, events, among others) and attract sponsors to support their athletic careers.
I believe the intercultural and cosmopolitan experience I had at Manchester Met helped me develop many personal skills to:
-
Adapt to global environments, embracing diversity and being empathetic towards it.
-
Believe that good ideas have no territorial boundaries.
-
Develop professional projects that align with our passions and lifestyle as individuals.
When undertaking entrepreneurial endeavours, I apply all these abilities, but I particularly emphasise the capacity to generate and enhance personal relationships, as trust is fundamental in the world of athletes.
My top tip for students
It’s not easy, but I would suggest identifying what truly inspires us and then understanding the value we can bring to that area based on our abilities.
I’m inspired by
The ability of athletes to inspire and demonstrate that everything we set our minds to can become a reality if we work with passion. I am also inspired by the values of sportsmanship that are important to our communities.
Why I love Manchester Met
I loved the opportunity to meet and learn from people from all over the world, expanding my intercultural knowledge and awareness. I also loved working as a waiter in the Old Trafford stands throughout that year, as it allowed me to awaken my passion for sports business.
