How to apply for postgraduate law courses

Application process
We have seven postgraduate law courses available to choose from. Explore how to apply below.

Bar Training Course and LLM in Legal Practice at the Bar
Please follow the steps below to apply.
Online application form
Complete the relevant application form on our online portal.
Bar Training Course:
- Bar Training Course: one year full-time
- Bar Training Course: two years part-time
- Bar Training Course: five years part-time
LLM in Legal Practice at the Bar:
- LLM Legal Practice at the Bar: one year full-time
- LLM Legal Practice at the Bar: two years part-time
- LLM Legal Practice at the Bar (Flexible Route): two years part-time

Supplementary application form
Complete the supplementary application form to provide additional details about your educational background. This form is available to download from the Bar Training Course page and LLM in Legal Practice at the Bar course page.
Please attach this to your online application with any other relevant supporting documents referenced in your application.
Monitoring questions form
Please complete the monitoring questions form and attach it to your online application. This form is available to download from the Bar Training Course page and LLM in Legal Practice at the Bar course page.
Reference form
Please complete the academic reference form. This should be a detailed academic reference from your most recent place of study. This form is available to download from the Bar Training Course page and LLM in Legal Practice at the Bar course page.

Join an Inn
You must apply to join one of the four Inns of Court at least 12 weeks before you start the course:

Bar Training Course applications are processed by our Postgraduate Admissions Team.

Graduate Diploma in Law and LLM Graduate Legal Studies
Please follow the steps below to apply.
Register with the Central Applications Board (LawCAB)
Go to the LawCAB website and create an account.
Online application form
Complete the GDL/law conversion application form on the LawCAB website.
Please follow the guidance below :
complete and save all sections. You can work through these at your own pace. All mandatory sections must be completed before you submit the form.
select up to three institutions
attach a copy of your degree transcript or certificate to confirm your eligibility. If you’re still studying your degree, your most up-to-date transcript should suffice.
Nominate a referee
To support your application, you’ll need to nominate a referee who can confirm your suitability for the course.
Go to guidance for selecting a referee on the LawCAB website
Pay the application fee
As part of your application on the LawCAB website, you’ll be asked to pay an application fee. The fee is £30.
Submit your application form
Once you’ve completed all sections of your form and paid the fee, you can submit your application.
LawCAB will then request a reference from your nominated referee.
When LawCAB has received the reference, it will release your application form to the institutions you’ve selected.

LLM Legal Practice
Please follow the steps below to apply.
