What is mentoring?

Mentoring is a one-to-one partnership between a more experienced professional (the mentor) and someone less experienced (the mentee).

Your mentor will encourage you to seek advice and information about your career direction and employment goals. They will also share their skills, experience and insight, and take an interest in your career plans.

The relationship is built on:

  • mutual respect

  • trust

  • encouragement

  • constructive feedback

  • openness

  • a willingness to learn and share

As a mentee, you are an ambassador of the University.

Mentor Me is open to all students who have completed their first year of undergraduate study. It is particularly appropriate for second-year students.

All postgraduate taught and research students can also apply for a mentor.
