About the Careers Service

Our experienced team offers professional and impartial services to students, graduates, employers and university staff. 

Our vision is to help all students gain experiences that help them reach their potential, develop skills and attributes, and build a credible career plan for a successful future. 

Services for students and graduates

We support students at every stage of their career journey, including: 

  • developing skills and employability 
  • getting advice and guidance on career options 
  • preparing and applying for jobs and work experience 
  • meeting employers and finding graduate opportunities 

Our services include: 

  • Career Centre: information hub with access to tools, guides and interactive courses to prepare our students for the world of work. Resources include a CV checker, cover letter builder, practice interview tool and psychometric tests 
  • My Career Hub: access hundreds of part-time roles, graduate jobs, placements and internship opportunities as well as events — from careers fairs to employer networking events  
  • Jobs4Students: paid work experience opportunities for students across campus 
  • Rise: hosts a wide range of experiences, activities and short courses, allowing students to learn new skills and earn credits towards their degree
  • Mentor Me: a mentoring scheme that gives students insight into the working world through an industry mentor 
  • One-to-one support from our experienced advisers when needed 

Graduates can get advice and guidance for up to three years after completing their studies – find ways you can contact us. Alumni can access Career Centre for life.

Working with employers

We help employers recruit students and graduates as well as develop students’ employability. Our services include: 

  • a recruitment website where employers can advertise jobs, placements and graduate schemes 
  • opportunities for on-campus events to meet our students, give presentations and hold interviews 
  • advice for working with other university departments for projects, knowledge transfer and more 
  • Mentor Me programme that connects employers to our talent and enables them to give something back

We work closely with academics so they can develop student employability in their courses.

Our Careers Service is provided by Manchester Metropolitan University and is not part of any combined careers services that we do not have sole control over. We also provide some services using third-party careers services including:
