Meet our 2012 honorary graduates

  • Sir Rod Aldridge OBE

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), in recognition of his distinguished achievements in the field of business and his outstanding commitment to supporting young people reach their potential through the work of The Aldridge Foundation.

  • Sarah Burton OBE

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts (DArts), in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the fashion industry and the inspiration she represents to our students as a graduate of the University.

  • Guy Garvey

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts (DArts), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music and for his generous commitment and support of the Manchester city region.

  • Gethin Jones

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (DSc), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to television and the extreme physical challenges accomplished. His creativity and original approach to filmmaking and the arts are of great inspiration to our students.

  • Mike Leigh OBE

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts (DArts), in recognition of his outstanding contribution to theatre and film as both an acclaimed playwright and director. His creativity and original approach to filmmaking and the arts are of great inspiration to our students.

  • Professor Martin Narey

    Honorary Degree of Doctor of Letters (DLitt), The award acknowledges his distinguished achievements in the field of social reform and outstanding commitment to the welfare of children. His eminent career is an inspiration for students and graduates of the University.
