Biography
Nathalie joined the department in 2015 as section lead and teaches on both undergraduate and postgraduate units in Multimedia Journalism. After obtaining a Post Graduate Diploma in Newspaper Journalism from the University of Central Lancashire, Nathalie enjoyed a successful career in journalism working on various local, regional and national newspapers including a number within the Manchester Evening News Group (MEN Media), the Wigan Evening Post, the Warrington Guardian, the Daily Star and the Sunday Express. As well as broad spectrum news reporting Nathalie has also been heavily involved in editing and designing newspapers and has experience in newspaper and online management. Prior to her arrival at MMU Nathalie was a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at the University of Chester for six years where she continued to develop her interest in journalism from an academic perspective as well as in journalism education. She completed both an MA in Journalism and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching for Higher Education. Her particular interest is in how the evolving landscape of the Journalism industry is impacting on local democracy as well as how changing TV habits among young people will impact on the magazine industry. Nathalie continues to work as a journalist where possible and maintains key industry links.
