How to enrol

Congratulations on starting your studies at Manchester Met.

Follow these steps to complete your enrolment. You must enrol each year of your studies.

If you have just received your confirmation email, it can take up to 48 hours for your password to start working. If you cannot log in after 48 hours, please call us.

Photo upload and identity verification are done when you start at the University or begin a new course of study, such as moving from an undergraduate degree to a postgraduate programme.

If you have any problems with your enrolment, call our helpline on 0161 247 5959. It’s open weekdays from 9:00am to 4:00pm.

Step-by-step guide to enroling

  • 1) Upload your photo and identity verification

Start by uploading two photos for your Manchester Met student record:

    • a clear passport-style photo of yourself
    • a photo of your passport, driving licence or similar government-issued photo identity document

This is a required part of your enrolment. It also releases any financial support you may be expecting from student loans or other funders once fully enrolled.

Log in using the eight-digit student ID number found on your confirmation letter.

For your initial password, use your date of birth in the case-sensitive format ddMmmyy (for example 01Jan02).

Remember, it can take up to 48 hours after confirmation for your password to work.

  • 2) Complete your online enrolment

Enrol online using your student ID and password to log in.

It may take a few days after your confirmation letter for your record to be set up in our enrolment system.

If it does not work immediately, give it a day or two before contacting us.

Online enrolment verifies we have you listed on the correct course. It asks you to confirm contact information and payment arrangements.

There are other questions we must ask for statistical and reporting purposes.

  • 3) Visit your Welcome page and find events

    Visit your Welcome page for:

    • a personalised induction from your faculty
    • information about your course
    • any reading or projects to complete before starting

You will also find reading lists and a timetable once it is published.

If you are on a professional, research or modular course, you may be emailed by your faculty or department with this information.

For information on social and learning events to help you find your way, visit the Welcome events calendar.

  • 4) Collect your student ID card

We will have identity card collection stations in the Brooks Building from 27 August and in the Business School from 16 September.

After 4 October, identity cards (ID cards) may be collected during normal business hours from the Student Hub.

For more information and to book a time to collect your card, visit your Welcome pages.

Please allow three business days between completing online enrolment (including upload of photo and ID) and when you plan to collect your ID card.

If you are expecting funding, our confirmation to the Student Loan Company is based on your successful ID verification and enrolment, not when you collect your card. The loans company does not release funds until the start of term.

Once you have your student ID card you should carry it with you whenever you are on campus.

You will need a valid student ID card to access the Library and other facilities.

Make a note of your student ID number until you have your card.

  • 5) Attend your first session and get involved

You must attend all the scheduled course activities from the first day of term to ensure that you get the best start to your university studies.

Once you have enrolled, log in to MyMMU to access helpful resources including your email and Moodle, where you’ll find resources to help you prepare for studying at Manchester Met.

The Getting Ready to Learn module on Moodle will help you make a good start to your studies.

The University’s Rise Programme offers you a chance to learn beyond your course and start building your future self.

Visit the Student Life page regularly to discover opportunities and resources as well as to stay up-to-date with important University news.

The Student Union offers advice and representation, and is a good way to get involved in social opportunities, societies and clubs.
