You'll need to consider how to fund the cost of living during your overseas exchange.
Tuition fees
Tuition fees
If you choose to study at one of our partner universities on an approved exchange programme, you’ll continue to pay tuition fees to Manchester Met. You will not need to pay any tuition fees to your host university.
You’ll continue to be registered at Manchester Met during your period abroad as well as register as a student at the host university.
If you study abroad for the full academic year, you may be eligible for a substantial reduction in tuition fees for the year you are spending abroad.
Cost of living
During your exchange period abroad, you’ll need to budget for the general cost of living as well as additional costs.
You’ll need to think about:
- flights and travel
- visas
- travel insurance
- medical insurance
- vaccinations (depending on your destination)
- study materials
- field trips
If you have a UK government loan to support your studies, you may continue to receive your student loan during your overseas exchange.
You may also be eligible for a government travel grant.
