Why did McDonald’s (and franchise W.Liddy LTD) choose to offer degree apprenticeships?
We see the benefit of well-trained employees, as it helps with employee retention, development and progression. We want our people to be satisfied with their career choice and education can certainly contribute to that. We’ve got a good track record with degree apprenticeships, having previously sponsored another Business Manager and an Assistant Manager on the programme. Both managers who have already completed the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship spoke highly of their experience when networking with colleagues and they have benefited from the knowledge gained in their day-to-day work.
What impact have degree apprentices had in your organisation?
The Business Manager who completed the programme previously is focussed on improving the business in any way he can. His analytical skills have helped us to make investment decisions and conduct cost-saving exercises without negatively impacting the customer experience. The Assistant Manager who completed the programme worked on a project linked to employee turnover and as a result, the turnover in his restaurant was dramatically reduced. This improvement has been replicated across my organisation.
Why did you choose Manchester Met and how have you found working with us?
McDonald’s have built a good working relationship with Manchester Met and I was happy to benefit from that connection. My managers provide positive feedback about the support they’ve received and I’m happy with the outcomes, happy managers who are more committed to their career within my organisation!
Would you recommend degree apprenticeships and Manchester Met to other employers?
Absolutely, it helps retain senior staff and gives them a greater insight into the business.
