Professor Bruce Edmonds

My profile

Biography

I am Professor of Social Simulation at the Manchester Metropolitan University Business School and Director of the Centre for Policy Modelling (CfPM) there. I am expert in most aspects of agent-based social simulation applied to issues of practical and policy relevance. This includes the philosophy, methodology, tools and application of the technique, but also how it relates to and can be combined with data-mining, cognitive modelling, and qualitative data. I publish widely in the fields of sociology, policy development, philosophy and computer science. For more about me see the centre website (http://cfpm.org) or my personal academic page (http://bruce.edmonds.name).

Teaching

Supervision

I have successfully guided 11 students to complete their PhD, 9 as director of studies and 2 as co-supervisor. Currently I am director of studies to 2 students, and co supervisor of 5 other in the university. In addition I am external supervisor of 5 other students in other universities due to the MMU being part of the SAF21 project.
