My profile

Biography

I am an Arts Lecturer for both Primary and Secondary Courses at Brooks Campus – Manchester. I teach practical arts sessions, visit our students whilst on their school placements, conduct primary and secondary interviews alongside my lecturing responsibilities and research.

Prior to joining the Faculty of education in 2021, I worked as the Head of an outstanding Art department in a secondary school and sixth form, where I was most recently the Cultural Capital Project Lead. I have been a subject mentor for almost 20 years, so it is an incredible opportunity to be working with our students from a new perspective.

I have a particular interest in working with pupils who have attachment issues. I believe that everyone can be taught how to be a successful artist and that art can be used for social change.

I have additionally worked with Altius as a Specialist Leader of Education on Derbyshire wide projects including ‘Word-Power,’ a government funded initiative based upon vocabulary, reading and inference in under-performing Secondary schools. At this time, I was also working with Derbyshire Education Authority as a Lead Marking and Feedback Advisor. I believe that every teacher is a teacher of literacy, our job is an amazing one which requires supportive and creative networks.
