My profile
Biography
I am a Senior Lecturer in Primary and Early Years education.
Before joining MMU, I worked for ten years within Primary and Early Years settings.
Within these settings, I taught EYFS through to Year 6 and these experiences in conjunction with school roles as SENDCo, Science and Mathemetics Subject Leaders have cemented my firm understanding about the teaching and learning expectations required for all key stages.
Additional experiences as a School Improvement Teacher for Manchester L.A, and Deputy Headteacher of two different primary schools have furthered my understanding about how consistent standards can be raised and maintained within a primary school.
My interests relate to early years education, in particular learning through exploratory play. I have contributed several EYFS focussed chapters to primary education publications and recently published my own book titled ‘Learning threads for the EYFS’ which outlines practical activities alongside framework outcomes.
