Biography

Marianna is a Lecturer in Sports  within the Sport Policy Unit at MMU. She has been previously involved in teaching at the University of Padua (Italy), University of Edinburgh (Scotland) and the Univesité Général Lansana Conte de Sofonia (Guinea).  Her research areas include questions on social change, sport for development and addresses the promotion and protection of human rights through and in sport.

Marianna has presented her research in numerous international settings like the conference of the Leisure Studies Association, the European  Association for the Sociology of Sport, the Sport & EU Association and Sport & Society amongst others. 

She has consulted for range of organisations, including the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the Italian Third Division Football Association (Lega Pro) and the EU Commission - EACEA Agency.
