My profile

Biography

Dr Mabel Nnadi is as lecturer in Occupational Safety Health and Environment at the Manchester Metropolitan University. She is also the Deputy Lead of the programme.  She has previous experience in teaching and supervision of research projects at post graduate level in Health Safety and Environment, at the University of Sunderland.

She is a highly motivated environmental health researcher whose research career commenced while studying for her PhD at the University of Sunderland, following the completion of her Master’s degree in Environment Health and Safety. With a grounded knowledge of best pedagogic practices, in relation to the design and evaluation of learning gained through her research and teaching experiences, she has a keen interest in bridging the gap between research and teaching.

As a health and safety professional, she has several years of combined professional and academic experience in Occupational Health Safety and Environment, which includes over 10 years of industry experience in the oil and gas sector of Nigeria. As a HSE Advisor, she monitored workplace environmental impacts, safety compliance, compiled and presented reports to stakeholders and regulators towards the achievement of key performance indicators (KPI) and targets. She also has experience performing complex Fire, COSHH and general Risk Assessments, and developing Emergency Procedures.

Interests and expertise

Dr Mabel’s research interests include Sustainability, Aspects and Impacts of Environmental Pollution, Socioeconomic and Public Health impacts of hydrocarbon pollution, Bioremediation of hydrocarbon contaminated land, Microbial population dynamics in hydrocarbon contaminated soil, Biosynthesis of recalcitrant xenobiotics, Safety culture and climate.

Dr Mabel Nnadi is currently the module leader for the following MSc Occupational Safety Health & Environment (OSHE) modules:

  • Environmental Management 
  • Risk Perception and Management  

She also teaches:

  • Research Methods  -  MSc Advanced Physiotherapy
  • Research Methods  -  Pre- Registration Physiotherapy

Dr Mabel Nnadi supervises MSc Occupational Safety Health & Environment (OSHE) students  and Doctoral research (PhD)  students.
