Biography
Liam joined Manchester Metropolitan University as a Senior Lecturer in Physiology in January 2022 after five years at the University of Huddersfield. Prior to his role at Huddersfield, Liam completed a PhD at Northumbria University, Newcastle on the physiological and performance responses to the extra-time period of soccer. Liam is a BASES Accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Liam is also a member of the British American Football Association (BAFA) Sport Science & Medicine Committee, and is particularly passionate about advancing the sport of Flag Football (What is Flag Football? – British American Football).
Interests and expertise
My research interests currently lie in exercise and nutritional interventions for both performance and health. In particular, my research is in team sports, from a performance, physiological and nutritional perspective, as well as the use of adapted sports and nutrition as a way of improving the health and wellbeing of an older population.
