Biography

A one-time consultant for the World Bank Group, Dr. Boasiako brings a wealth of international finance experience to his research and classroom. His research explores empirical corporate finance, entrepreneurial finance, labor finance, and the effect of climate transition risk on corporate policies. His work has been featured in a variety of finance and accounting journals, including the British Accounting Review, European Financial Management, and the International Review of Financial Analysis, and he has contributed to blog posts for Duke University’s Financial Economics Centre (The FinReg Blog). 

Dr. Boasiako serves as an honorary research associate at the Victoria University of Wellington, where he graduated with a Ph.D. in Finance. He earned a distinction in MSc. Investment Analysis from the University of Stirling in Scotland. During his time there, he was recognized with the best dissertation award and the prestigious Walter Scott Global Asset Management Prize for achieving the highest ranking in the MSc. Investment Analysis class. He also received a Bachelor of Management Studies (First Class Honours) from the University of Cape Coast in Ghana and was awarded the class of 2014’s best graduating Business School student.

Supervision

  • Honorary Research Associate (Doctoral Co-supervisor) at the Victoria University of Wellington - my PhD student’s paper on right-to-work laws and venture capital investment has received a revise and resubmit editorial decision in the Journal of Banking and Finance.
  • PhD Supervision: I am accepting PhD applications in the areas of empirical corporate finance, entrepreneurial finance and labor finance.
