My profile
Biography
I joined MMU in September 2019 as a Senior Lecturer in Law.
I hold a PhD in the area of Intellectual Property and Competition Policy from the University of Edinburgh (2018), where I was also employed as a tutor and research assistant in IP and Business Law. I also studied IP and Competition Law at the University of Glasgow, where I completed my LLM.
My research focuses on Alternative Cultures, Places, and the Law.
I have published a monograph on the relationship between Intellectual Property Law and Competition Policy for new business models in the creative industries with Routledge NY. I am currently preparing my second monograph on Metal Music and the Law for the same publisher.
I have led a British Academy funded project on urban squats, and have published articles and reports on the topic, investigating alternative forms of urban participation from legal, geographical, cultural, and urban policy perspectives.
Prior to becoming an academic, I qualified as a lawyer with the Athens Bar, and worked in the public sector, including holding posts with the Industrial Property Organization and the Ministry of Interior in Greece.
During my student years, I worked as a Marketing and Press Officer for a major concert promoter in Greece (working directly with artists such as Linkin Park, Black Sabbath, Guns n Roses), and as a part-time music journalist.
My proudest achievements to date are interviewing Ozzy Osbourne in person and graduating as a Doctor of Laws.
