Biography
Adedayo joined Manchester Law School as a Lecturer in September 2022. Previously, he had worked as a Teaching Assistant in Law and a Research Assistant in Human Rights on the Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF) and the Department for the Economy funded project titled ‘Witness Testimony, Support and Protection in Truth Commissions: The Gambian Experience’ at Queen’s University Belfast. In January 2019, Adedayo received a merit-based scholarship from The Hague Academy of International Law to attend its Winter Courses and present parts of his thesis at the Academy’s doctoral sessions.
Adedayo holds a PhD in Law from Queen’s University Belfast, and an LLM in International Law and Security from the University of Dundee. He is a qualified Barrister and Solicitor in Nigeria. In addition, he is a co-founder/member of the Human Trafficking Research Network.
Interests and expertise
International Law and the protection of victims of trafficking in persons
Human Trafficking and Irregular Migration
Adedayo’s research explores how international law and human rights law should respond to the harmful state behaviour of securitising migration, particularly within the context of protecting victims of trafficking.
His broader research interests include due diligence and state obligations in human rights and international law, and border racialisation.
