  • Faculty induction programme

    Your faculty induction will take place on Wednesday 16 October, 9:30am - 4:30pm, in the Digital Office located on Level 2, Business School – please save the date.

    This session is a fantastic way to meet your tutors and fellow doctoral students. You’ll learn more about your faculty and what support is available academically and pastorally.

    We strongly recommend attending your induction to give you the best possible start to your doctoral degree.

    Here is the programme for the day:

    • 10:00am - 11:00am: What is my PhD idea and who am I? Introductions.
    • 11:00am - 11:15am: Break.
    • 11:15am - 12:00pm: What is a PhD? Hear perspectives from existing doctoral researchers.
    • 12:00pm - 12:30pm: Why is the PhD important? We will discuss how doctoral research fits into our research goals. 
    • 12:30pm - 1:30pm: Lunch. 
    • 1:30pm - 3:00pm: How do you successfully do a PhD? Chatting about the mechanics of doing a PhD at Man Met. 
    • 3:00pm - 3:15pm: Break. 
    • 3:15pm - 4:15pm: Where is the community? Talking about where to find support and community.
    • 4:15pm - 4:30pm: What next? Sharing reflections and actions from the day.

  • Research training programme

    The Business and Law Doctoral Research Training Programme (DRTP) supports you in developing your thesis and passing through the milestones in the early stages of your PhD.

    It enhances the support and guidance of our supervision teams by offering training in the key skills needed to complete your PhD. 

    The DRTP consists of three units:

    • Literature Reviewing
    • Principles of Research Design
    • Data Collection and Analysis
