Mike Wamaya from Project Elimu facilitated a one-day workshop in collaboration with Su Corcoran from Manchester Met.
Eleven street-connected young people and their support workers from Fikisha Kenya, Kito International, and Zero Street Child Foundation in Nairobi participated in the workshop.
Representatives from the Nairobi County office of the department of Children and Families and head teachers from primary schools in Mathare informal settlement were also invited to take part.
At the workshop the young people danced together with these policy makers before taking part in a group discussions about their experiences of education.
Dancing helped to overcome the power imbalances in the room, providing a more level space within which the young people could share their stories.
