Research summary
This project is evaluating the impact of a new employability and coaching pilot programme run between 2018-20, involving 1,500 students from Manchester Met.
The employability programme is part of the curriculum for two specific degree courses in the Faculty of Business and Law.
It included compulsory individual and group coaching, a simulated assessment centre and online self-assessment learning activities.
The research conducted focus groups and interviews with students, utilised careers registration data collected by the University Careers Service to measure progress and also reviewed reflective student essays.
Our analysis seeks to consider how the programme has contributed to students’ self-perceived employability and eventual graduate outcomes.
