Affect and Neuroqueer learning in the Early Years: Sonic and electric as relational pedagogy

Background and aims

My PhD research focuses on neurodiversity in early childhood classrooms. I draw from theories of Affect; sound studies and scholarship; crip and neuroqueer theories; and queer and anti-colonialisation scholarship.

I explore how the intention brought to sonic and autonomic methods might point to more inclusive educational practices.

My PhD research adopts music research-creation as the intersection of art, research and theory. In addition to my PhD research, I explore music research-creation as a methodology as part of a glitch-folk/electronica band, Oblique Curiosities.

I am a collaborator of the international research-creation project WalkingLab. I also continue to compose electroacoustic and acoustic concert, film and theatre music (most recently, Filmworker).
