16 Days - Reading: Nat Raha and Roma Havers
Reading
Readings from Nat Raha and Roma Havers as part of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence
Dr Nat Raha is a poet and activist-scholar who will be reading from her new collection, apparitions (nines) (Nightboat Books, 2024). Her work seeks to inject the disruptive potential of collective action into the body of the poem. Her poetry has also appeared in 100 Queer (2022) and We Want It All: An Anthology of Radical Trans Poetics (Nightboat 2020).
Roma Havers is a queer poet and theatre-maker based in Manchester. Their most recent work includes LOB (Contact. 2022) and poetic film Breathe with Orchestras Live and Manchester Camerata. They were 2024 winner of the Northern Writer’s Award for Poetry. Roma’s work explores queer inheritance, the body and what it means to radicalise queer joy.
This event is part of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a series of poetry readings, panels and workshops led by academics in the field. Our events examine how poetry can create transformational social change in partnership with the public and policymakers.
