Reading

Thu 05 Dec 2024 18:00-19:30

Part of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a series of poetry readings, panels and workshops led by academics in the field

Anjum Malik is a poet, script writer and Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her poetry is agile, often moving between multiple languages and dismantling preconceptions, hierarchies and borders in a uniquely playful, subversive approach to language.

Charlotte Shevchenko Knight is a PhD candidate at Manchester Metropolitan University. Her debut poetry collection Food for the Dead (Cape, 2024) is shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. Her work examines the female body, hunger and gender inequality in medicalised spaces.

This event is part of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a series of poetry readings, panels and workshops led by academics in the field. Our events examine how poetry can create transformational social change in partnership with the public and policymakers.
