Manchester: Then and Now

HOW DID IT COME ABOUT?
Inspired by the Manchester Time Machine App, Professor Steve Hawley (Manchester School of Art) shot footage of the city in 2018 from the same positions as filmmakers working decades previously. He displayed the footage side-by-side in innovative presentations that illustrated how the city had changed over the years.
Professor Hawley kindly permitted us to use his footage in this playful experimental page, designed by the NWFA’s Digital Access Officer Jonathan Howell, that allows you to see for yourself how the city has developed.
