Publishing open access
POA
There are two main ways to make your research outputs open access (OA):
-
Green open access
- Deposit peer-reviewed outputs, via Symplectic, in the University’s research repository e-space.
- This is usually the author accepted manuscript(also known as AAM).
- No charges are payable.
- The publisher may stipulate an embargo period before the output is accessible.
-
Gold open access
- Outputs are immediately and freely available on the publisher’s website. You can choose to publish in a wholly open access journal, or a subscription journal with an open access option.
- The publisher allows you to deposit the final published version, via Symplectic, in the University’s research repository e-space.
- You will usually pay an Article Processing Charge (APC). The University has an APC fund to support Gold Open Access.
