CHOOSING A DEGREE APPRENTICESHIP

I always wanted to do something creative and originally wanted to go into marketing and journalism. Because of my A-level media coursework, UX became easy to go into, and I was interested in it as soon as I learned about it.

I wanted to go straight into the workplace to be able to apply myself and start earning money. I wanted to build a career instead of spending four years at university which is the traditional route. Once I finish the Digital User Experience (UX) Professional Degree Apprenticeship, I will have a degree and four years of experience integrated into a corporate setting. Also, networking with people at a very young age and building relationships is priceless.

PUTTING KNOWLEDGE INTO PRACTICE

The knowledge I have gained at the company has been solidified by my degree and what I’ve been taught in lectures. Therefore, everything we learn in university is taken back into the workplace.

I have been to a lot of networking events and met a lot of knowledgeable people. Most of our team is based in London, so I have been going there frequently to work with different groups and in UX workshops. 

MANCHESTER MET FACILITIES AND SUPPORT

It was great to go to the new SODA building on the first day and see how modern it is. It does help when it’s a nice place that’s fit for purpose, and I love going there.

Not only the buildings, but the teachers and skills coaches are great as well. Having someone to speak to about what’s happening is good. They’re thoughtful and caring and want to check up on how you are doing.
