MSc Accounting and Finance
Why did you choose Manchester Met for your masters?
I studied Mathematics at undergraduate, and found myself enjoying the finance related modules the most. After a year out, I decided to study a postgraduate degree. I picked Manchester Met as the modules offered aligned with what I wanted to learn, and I was really keen on the 100 Hour Internship Programme offered.
What have you enjoyed about your course?
I really enjoyed the Governance, Risk and Forensic Accounting module, and I am looking forward to taking Behavioural Biases and Financial Decision Making. I have really enjoyed going to the industry talks that we’re invited to frequently, as it allows me to learn more about the industry I am hoping to go into.
How were you supported throughout the course?
The lecturers are very friendly, so I appreciated that I was able to communicate with them with ease when I was struggling to understand something mentioned in a lecture or seminar. It’s also beneficial that there is a lot of support offered by the university: the career hub has been great with offering me resources to help with my future career.
How has the course impacted your career and ambitions for the future?
Prior to starting my masters degree, I knew I wanted to go into the finance industry but did not know exactly where. Thanks to the lecturers, the modules I’ve taken so far, and the industry talks I have attended, I believe I’ve worked out which career I would like to go into once I have finished the degree.
My top tip for future students is…
To get stuck in and seize every opportunity that comes your way! You never know which industry talk or module will inspire you and help to shape your future.
