Professor Andy Dainty
Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education
Professor Andy Dainty was appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education in September 2021.
Andy leads the University’s Education Strategy, including all aspects of teaching, learning, assessment, graduate outcomes and the student experience. Working closely with the academic staff and professional services colleagues from across the institution, he ensures that Manchester Met delivers a high-quality, digitally-enhanced learning experience that is attuned to the individual needs of our students.
A renowned expert on the sociologies of project-based organisations, for the past 25 years Andy’s research has focused on the social rules and processes that affect people working as members of project teams. A hallmark of Andy’s work is its interdisciplinary nature; he works with academic collaborators from across the engineering, social sciences, business and economics fields and collaborates with many leading consultancy and contracting organisations as well as client bodies. He also enjoys strong international connectivity having been a visiting professor in six different countries in recent years.
Prior to joining Manchester Met, Andy held a number of senior leadership positions at Loughborough University including Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor for the Doctoral College and as Dean of the School of Architecture, Building and Civil Engineering, the UK’s largest integrated School of the built environment.
Andy is a passionate advocate of sustainable living and a keen long-distance runner where he competes in half-marathons at least 12 times per year.
