About my career

Upon admission to Manchester Met, my hard work from my previous degree was recognised with a tuition fee scholarship. Studying at Manchester Met provided me with the opportunity to deepen my understanding of human physiology while gaining valuable laboratory skills.

After graduating, I went onto medical school to pursue a career in medicine, obtaining a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) qualification.

I am now a Junior Resident Doctor, and my main responsibilities include caring for surgical patients who are admitted to the hospital, whether as emergency or elective cases. I also collaborate with fantastic teams to improve patient outcomes across various medical and surgical specialities.

Completing the research project component of my course helped me enhance my attention to detail, as this skill was assessed on a daily basis. Additionally, I developed strong networking skills by liaising with different departments within the university and with external speakers throughout the course.

My top tip for students

Be persistent; it is tough out there, but hard work and consistency really pay off.

I am inspired by the many women in medicine, both past and present, as well as women in STEM.

Why I love Manchester Met

In addition to the exceptional education provided, one of the things I appreciated most at Manchester Met was the plethora of student social activities available to me. I spent an amazing year in Manchester.
