About my career

Immediately after graduating I became a pupil barrister at 1 Grays Inn Square, London. I became a barrister at law after qualifying from the Inns of Court School of Law.

I am currently a barrister, head of litigation and managing partner for the British Virgin Islands office of an offshore firm, Conyers. I have responsibility for ten litigators all practicing in the area of cross border commercial and company law.

I did various ‘mini pupillages’, mostly in London at various Chambers. This (or the modern equivalent) was essential to understand barrister life and challenges.

My top tip for students

Have humility, speak up and research before you opine.

I’m inspired by

Others who take steps to advance themselves, and by Van Morrison.

Why I love Manchester Met

The chance to make friends and learn about life in a city that I returned to and became my home for 15 years. Thirty years later I remain in contact with those friends.
