About my career

I decided to study in the UK, at Manchester Metropolitan, because of their reputation for innovation and fantastic facilities. One of my professors in college recommended the programme and when a rep came to our school for a seminar I got really excited and was determined to pursue my degree there.

My first job after graduating was a Client Relations/Marketing Associate at Romona Keveza Collection. The company was impressed with my studies overseas and understanding of the supply chain within the industry as well as my understanding of intricate design. This gave me an edge against the other applicants for the position.

My current role is Operations and Fulfilment Specialist at SENTALER. My main responsibilities are import/export, fulfilment, e-commerce, inventory management, pick/pack and shipment of all orders (individual and retailer) amongst other tasks.

The skills I learnt at Manchester Met and which I’ve used the most would be my understanding of fashion design and textiles as well as research and data management. Each of the different designers I’ve worked for have very different fashion lines and having an understanding of those specific textiles has helped me better understand how to store/package/maintain these products as best I can. Learning efficient ways of researching and keeping data accessible has been very beneficial for problem solving in all of my positions since graduation.

My top tip for students

My top tip for students about progressing in your career is to ask questions! Never stop asking questions and learning because there will always be an opportunity to grasp an understanding of something that could help you in the future. Also, don’t be afraid to apply to jobs that intimidate you. All positions I’ve applied for I didn’t think I would get whether because I didn’t have enough work experience or it may have seemed like not the right section of the industry.

Every time I accepted the offer and was pleasantly surprised how much there is to learn in those positions but also gained confidence in myself which resulted in great performance of my duties.

I’m inspired by

So many aspects of life - art history, music, you name it. But whittling down to my time at Manchester Metropolitan my biggest inspirations were the professors. They were so ready to help through any issue I was having, happily spent one-on-one time with me if I needed it… the list goes on. Their willingness to educate and help me understand inspired me to work harder and achieve projects I didn’t think I would be able to complete.

Why I love Manchester Met

During my time at Manchester Metropolitan University, I loved creating lasting friendships and connections that I’ll have forever.
