Andreas Lavendi
BSc (Hons) Financial Mathematics, Data Analyst, Acasta Europe
What sparked your interest in Mathematics?
Mathematics was always my best subject at school and I’ve always loved the satisfaction of finally understanding problems and finding the answers to them.
What was your first job after graduating?
After university, I decided to further develop my skills before getting a job. So I joined the Talent Academy at IN4.0 for a 12-week course. This course helped me to develop my cloud engineering, programming and entrepreneurship skills.
Following the course, I was offered a role as a Data Analyst at Acasta Europe, following two interviews with the company. In this insurance company, I work with data to spot trends or develop growth in a specific area of the business.
From the skills gained during your time at Manchester Met, which have you used most in your career so far?
The main skills I gained from studying at Manchester Met include time management and the ability to work under pressure, as there were many assignments and deadlines that needed to be met during my degree. These skills really help me improve my approach to work.
What advice would you give to students who aspire to a career in Mathematics?
Always start your assignments early and never leave anything to the last minute. Also, get involved with clubs and societies, as I regret not doing this at University.
