The team provide a high level of expertise and technical knowledge, and play a key role in supporting students in the delivery of projects, skills training and practical classes. We are also responsible for facilitating and delivering learning, research and outreach activities.
Many of our colleagues work directly with students and deliver skills based training. Some Technical Services colleagues are research active; delivering research projects and providing training to research staff on how to use equipment and software.
Many of our technical staff members hold PhDs and Degrees in disciplines associated with the specialisms they deliver – many are Fellows and Associate Fellows of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and hold professional accreditation status as Registered Science Technicians (RSciTech), Registered Scientists (RSci) and Chartered Scientists (CSci).
As well as supporting Manchester Metropolitan students, Technical Services have an active outreach programme. Our technical staff visit local schools and colleges to deliver educational sessions to primary and secondary school children.
We also provide support for research, consultancy and knowledge exchange activities. We are a forward-looking service and committed to a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.
