Before you apply
Research the cost of living for your chosen destinations. Make sure you attend the cost-of-living session on Wednesday 30 October, from 2:30 to 3:30pm in Geoffrey Manton LT6.
Step one: Prepare and submit your application
Complete the online form with the following information:
- Your personal details and information about your course
- The name of your academic referee
- This can be your exchange coordinator, personal tutor or any other Manchester Metropolitan academic who can support your decision to study abroad
- If you are a Combined Honours student, you will need to seek approval from both of your departments
- Speak with the relevant academic(s) before submitting your application
- Choose up to five exchange universities
- Answer the question ‘Why do you want to study abroad?’ (maximum 400 words) Include the three areas below in your answer:
- Your motivation to study abroad
- How studying abroad will help you develop
- How you will be an ambassador for Manchester Met
Step two: Our decision
We aim tell you the outcome of your application on or before Friday 24 January 2025.
You will have two weeks to accept or decline your offer.
Step three: Apply to the partner university
If you’re successful, you will be invited to attend a ‘What Next’ session in February. You will then need to apply to the host university to secure your place.
Your exchange will only be fully confirmed when:
- The partner university has accepted you
- Your department has agreed to your study programme overseas
Any offer of exchange will be subject to you meeting any academic requirements set by your department and passing your current year of study.
