To get the most out of your time learning at university, you’ll need access to technology and IT support.

As a student at Manchester Met there’s a wide range of tech resources available at your fingertips. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ve got access to, so you can get the most out of this academic year.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

First things first, we’ve been working hard to make sure your Manchester Met account is secure. This means you’ll need to make sure you’ve registered a device for Multi-Factor Authentication.

You’ll likely already have done this during your onboarding process. However, moving forward, you will need to have access to the registered device to authenticate your login when accessing:

  • Moodle
  • My MMU App
  • Officer 365 (Outlook, MS Teams etc)

While we understand that this adds an extra step into your login process, unfortunately, it is necessary. Higher education institutions are now increasingly being targeted by bad actors across the world - As proven by the cyber security attack on the University of Newcastle in 2020 or the data breach at the University of Manchester 2023.

As a result, we have taken to the decision to add an additional layer of security to keep your data & hard work safe.

Need help with MFA? Check out this handy guide

MyMMU app

MYMMU is one of the first things you need to download as it’s where you’ll find all the online tools you’ll need to enjoy a successful studying experience. Access Moodle, your student timetable, attendance, campus maps and useful learning, social and wellbeing resources.

Either download the MyMMU app on Apple or Android or visit MyMMU on a web browser. All you need to log in is your university username (i.e. [email protected]) and password.

Using Wi-Fi on campus

When you are on campus, don’t forget you can connect your devices to Eduroam, our free and secure Wi-Fi service.

You can also use your MMU credentials to connect to Eduroam at other universities around the world. Look where you can use Eduroam.

Moodle

Moodle is our online learning environment that will definitely enhance your learning experience. It provides access to online course materials from slides and podcasts to lecture notes, plus you can also discuss content with tutors and peers, submit your work and receive feedback from your tutor.

Your Moodle areas will give you access to each of the units you are studying as well as your programme of study and any supplementary resources and information from your faculty, so it’s an invaluable tool to help you with your studies.

Find out more about how to navigate Moodle via the Student Resources page.

Lecture Capture

We know that life happens sometimes, and you may not be able to attend lectures, or you simply missed a chunk of what the lecturer said. That’s why we have implemented the Lecture Capture system in over 50 teaching spaces across campus.

This gives access to audio and screen recordings after the session has ended. Links to these recordings are made available via Moodle by your tutors. Find out which rooms are supported on the Lecture Capture page

Print Services

At Manchester Met, you can access a variety of printing services across campus. These include multifunctional printers for printing, scanning, and copying, as well as specialized printing services like wide format and 3D printing.

You can find out more about the print services we offer as well as the costs via the Printing page on the IT&D website.
