Academic and professional qualifications

After studying at the College of Law in Chester I qualified as a solicitor and worked in private practice in Derby where I gained experience in litigation, criminal, property, employment and wills and probate.

Previous employment

In the 1980s I worked in the legal department of NEI International Combustion and then for Automotive Products plc in Leamington Spa. I then became Deputy Group Solicitor of BBA Group plc based near Leeds.  I spent 10 years in this role before setting up my own legal consultancy business which I have run for 26 years.

Other academic service (administration and management)

I commenced my law lecturing career at the University of Huddersfield in 2005 and stayed there until 2016. I was a lecturer in Business Law and Practice, Employment Law, Business Accounts and Commercial Law for the LPC and in the last few years Module Leader for Employment Law.

I commenced employment with MMU in 2016 as an Associate Lecturer for Business Law, Contract Law and Employment Law. I am now a Senior Lecturer in Business Law and Practice and Employment Law on the LPC, I have also taught Business Associations to Hong Kong students and taught Company Law in a Global Context for the LLB. I have taught International Sale of Goods, International Trade Law and Principles of Corporate Governance at Masters level.
